Ear reshaping, also known as otoplasty, is a surgical technique used to improve the shape, position or proportion of the ears.
Why Consider Ear Reshaping?
You may choose to have ear reshaping to address protruding or large ears. Ear reshaping can also help to correct a structural abnormality due to a birth deformity or misshapen ears caused by injury.
What to Expect
Some ear surgeries are performed under local anesthesia, which numbs only part of your body, and sedation. In other cases, general anesthesia is used. During the procedure, Dr. Camp typically makes an incision behind the ear with manipulation of the cartilage to position the ear closer to the head and reduce its prominence.
